AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Two Borger residents have pleaded guilty in a federal court to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldaña, Dustin Engler,25, and Raphael Garcia, Jr., 36, both of Borger, now face sentencing in mid-January. Each faces a maximum statutory sentence of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

Since both were arrested by agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), they have remained in custody.

Documents filed in this case showed that Engler made arrangements with a confidential informant to sell meth outside a Borger grocery store on June 28, 2011. Raphael Garcia, a co-conspirator, drove Engler to the store after directing him to put the meth in a secluded residential area, authorities said.

An undercover officer was the arranged purchaser of the meth and according to the documents, he met Engler outside the store. That's where Engler told the undercover officer to follow Garcia to the residential area where the narcotics were hidden. Engler, according to authorities, then directed the officer to a nearby pile of bricks and said, "It's in there."

A plastic bag containing methamphetamine was retrieved by the officer from the file.

DEA and DPS conducted a joint invetsigation on this case.
