AMARILLO, TEXAS --
A new year is upon us, and many are contemplating that infamous New Year's resolution- that major change that could make 2012 the best year yet.
Among the most popular of resolutions is giving those cigarettes the boot, toning down the drinking, maintaining a healthier lifestyle and being more responsible with finances.
According to Gold's Gym Trainer and Membership Consultant Lacey Luna, the idea of getting back into shape brings many people to the gym this time of year.
"Every January, we just grab ahold and hang on tight because that's our busiest time of year, especially the first week of January," she said. "Everybody's making a New Year's resolution to either lose weight or get in shape."
Luna said many of the people who claim they will hit the weights all year only do it for about six weeks. Habits take between six and eight weeks to form, so they do not focus on their goal long enough to make it a routine.
Luna feels there are steps successful people take which help them to reach their goals.
"They make realistic goals," she said. "We have to make sure that they're realistic for us. The second one is to be constant about what we're doing, something we're committed to consistently- not a feeling. The third one is to write down what our goals are. If we can visually see our goals, it's a constant reminder of what we want to do. And the fourth one is just to get started."
What is your New Year's resolution? Why not take that idea and put it into effect now? Do not put off until tomorrow what can be done today!
