AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Earlier this week, Texas Governor Rick Perry pulled out of the race for the presidency.

His run for the top spot had its share of struggles, and its share of embarrassing moments.

As we found out some Panhandle people think we may have not heard the last of the Texas Governor, and that's okay with them.

"I was very honored and very humbled to have governor Perry speak so well about endorsing me just a few minutes ago as he withdrew from the campaign," said Republican Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich.

Before throwing his support to Newt Gingrich, Governor Perry's run for the office had mishaps like forgetting his own campaigning point plus, a few controversial political ads, but even with those gaffes, one local citizen says its unfortunate he dropped out of the race.

"I was a little bit disappointed that Governor Perry dropped out of the race, I believe he's a strong candidate and whether you believe in his policies, I don't think you can deny he has been good for Texas," said Jennifer Ashley.

When Perry announced he would run for President of the United States, many thought he would win the Republican nomination.

"I would say his strongest isn't debate, but he is good with policy, he is good with being personable, debate's not his thing, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been a good candidate."

Now, his support of a former opponent raises the question, if Gingrich gets the GOP nod, would Perry be his nod for VP?

"I don't think that would be a bad idea, Newt Gingrich has shown he is a strong candidate throughout his entire campaign and

I think Governor Perry would only add to his strength."

Time will tell if Perry will be on the ticket.

Ashley added that while disappointed that Perry dropped out of the race and she is glad he will be returning to Texas to serve out his term as Governor.
