AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Police arrested two men on charges of burglary of a habitation Monday evening after pipe was stolen from a vacant home.

41-year-old Jared Brad Ely and 46-year-old John Weslet Ott were both booked into the Randall County Jail on a charge of Burglary of a Habitation.

Amarillo Police said officers were dispatched to the area near 43rd and Polk Monday evening at around 9:30 on reports of suspicious people walking through the neighborhood.

Officers were able to locate the man who matched the caller's description and were led to a vacant home in the 100 block of West 43rd. Upon arrival at the residence, another person was found and said he was looking for a friend who was staying there.

Police said their investigation led them to discover the vacant house had been recently burglarized and copper tube piping was stolen.

Officers said evidence was located that linked both subjects to being inside the burglarized residence. Some of the stolen pipe was also located.
