CANYON, TEXAS -- University Police at West Texas A&M University arrested an 18-year-old student for submitting a false report of being assaulted.
The 18-year-old female student was arrested Tuesday afternoon. She is charged with False Report to a Peace Officer.
It was Jan. 29 when UPD said the woman reported that an unknown assailant grabbed and retained her on a campus parking lot.
As a result, a crime alert was issued to the campus community and local media.
Further investigation led UPD and the Texas Rangers to find that the allegation was false and she had not been assaulted.
