Dania Esparza's condition is now listed as improving, police said Wednesday morning.

Police are searching for the vehicle responsible for the hit-and-run that left a 10-year-old girl in life-threatening condition Monday evening.

It was just before 7:30 p.m. Monday when officers responded to the area of East 8th Avenue and South Pittsburgh Street. Police said a 10-year-old girl, now identified as Dania Esparza, had been struck by a car at the intersection.

The car that struck the girl fled north on Pittsburgh Street, police said. It's described as a four-door sedan, red in color. Police said the car may have faded red paint and possibly peeling paint on the roof.

Any information on this crime can be reported to the Traffic Investigations Unit of the Amarillo Police Department at 378-4250.
