ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A puppy stolen from a 4-year-old Albuquerque girl last Tuesday has been returned to her. Olivia Lippert says the women took the poodle puppy named Pip after they pulled up in a car and asked to see it. The Journal says someone saw news reports and the family's online posts about the theft and then discovered that the dog was for sale. The person bought the pup and returned him to the Lippert family. No arrests have been made.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Candidates for the Legislature, Public Regulation Commission and certain other offices are up against a deadline to run for election. All 112 seats in the House and Senate are on the ballot this year. Even before today's deadline, 17 legislative incumbents had announced plans to retire or seek other offices.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico Rail Runner Express is expanding its weekend train service. Rail Runner officials say that starting April 7, they will be adding two more Saturday trains to the northbound and southbound schedules.
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - The federal government is designating more than 10,000 acres of critical habitat for a rare spotted frog found in Arizona and southwestern New Mexico. The frog was listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act in 2002, but no critical habitat was proposed. An environmental group sued and reached a settlement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 2009 to consider whether critical habitat would help the frog.
