ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say an armed man who led police on a high-speed chase west of Albuquerque has been fatally shot by an Albuquerque police officer. Yesterday afternoon's chase ended on I-40 between Gallup and Grants. State Police were involved in the pursuit westbound on I-40 after Albuquerque police began the chase about 1 p.m.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The Santa Fe National Forest is planning a series of public meetings on a long-term restoration plan for the Jemez Mountains. The first meeting will be all day tomorrow at the forest supervisor's office in Santa Fe. The project is aimed at developing sustainable ecological forest conditions across some 210,000 acres.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Four candidates for the state Education Commission are running unopposed in the June primary election. The panel can approve the creation of local charter schools. Five of the commission's 10 seats are up for election, and there's a contested primary race for one of those based on candidate filings this week.
