AMARILLO, TEXAS -- An Amarillo man was sentenced on Thursday to 135 months in federal prison for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
32-year-old Adrian Garcia Baeza was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson. He pleaded guilty to the drug charge back in January.
Baeza was also ordered to forfeit his interest in a residence off Orry Avenue in Amarillo.
He has been in federal custody since his arrest in November 2011 on a federal felony criminal complaint.
According to authorities, an investigation involved several undercover purchases of large quantities of methamphetamine and large sums of cash.
Two others are also arrested as a result of the investigation, Jose Luis Pando, 34, and Valentin Roman Sanchez, 29.
During the investigation, two search warrants were executed and about $147,000 in U.S. Currency was located in an after-market concealed compartment of a Jeep Commander, authorities said. More than $25,000 in currency was also found in Baeza's residence.
Pando and Garza also pleaded guilty to the same offense. Sentencing dates for them have not yet been set.
The investigation was led by the FBI and DEA with assistance from the Amarillo Police Department.
