OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A wide, violent storm system continues to batter much of the Midwest and Plains.

Tornadoes have left five people dead and at least 29 injured in Oklahoma as the front moves east.

Storms were reported yesterday in Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska and Oklahoma. In western Iowa, a large part of the town of Thurman was destroyed.

Forecasters continue to warn that the possibility for "life threatening" severe weather remains from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan in the north to eastern Texas and Louisiana to the south.
