ABC's "Good Morning America" has broken the winning streak of long time standing winner "Today", becoming the top morning news show on television.
Final Nielsen ratings released Thursday showed that "GMA" beat its NBC rival by 31,000 total viewers last week. "GMA" has an average of 5.168 million viewers. That's the first time the ABC show has won a ratings week since 1995.
ABC News senior vice president and former "GMA" executive producer James Goldston announced the news on Twitter.
However, what's unclear is how long ABC's victory lap will last. Preliminary ratings for the first three days of this week show Today with a 246,000-viewer edge.
According to local Nielsen numbers, "GMA" has already been winning in the Amarillo market.
