A 15-year-old teenager was killed on Friday afternoon after a semi truck veered into his lane, the Texas Department of Public safety said.

Donald Waldenmayer, 15, of Lubbock, was driving a motorcycle westbound on Interstate 40 near Alanreed when he was passing a tractor trailer, DPS said.

The tractor trailer then veered into his lane, DPS said. Both vehicles then came to rest in the median.

Waldenmayer, according to DPS, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, DPS said.

In the semi, two people were transported to an Amarillo hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
