ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Federal agents have arrested around two dozen gang members linked to what authorities are describing as a meth and heroin ring in New Mexico. Officials with U.S. Homeland Security Investigations are scheduled today to announce details of the statewide gang roundup at their new offices south of Albuquerque. Homeland Security Investigations said the operation targeted known gang members in Farmington and Albuquerque.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Gov. Susana Martinez is crediting state and city officials with encouraging an avionics supplier to pick New Mexico as the site of its new headquarters. Bendix/King's plans to set up shop in Albuquerque are expected to mean 100 new jobs by the end of this year and another 40 by the end of 2013.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The army cutworm moths that every year descend upon Albuquerque have arrived - and this year there seems to be an explosion similar to the one last seen in 2003. Joran Viers of the New Mexico State University Bernalillo County Cooperative Extension tells the Albuquerque Journal the moths will be around the city for a few more weeks.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Gov. Susana Martinez has named Taos lawyer Jeffrey Shannon as a magistrate judge in Taos County. The governor announced yesterday that Shannon will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Betty Martinez. Shannon worked in a private law practice in Taos but previously served as a public defender in Taos and Clovis.
