ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - First Lady Michelle Obama wraps up a four-state campaign swing in New Mexico this afternoon. She'll be greeted by airmen from Kirtland Air Force Base and their families when she arrives in Albuquerque. She's then scheduled to speak at the private fundraiser. The first lady's campaign swing also included stops in Colorado, Arizona and Nevada.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Roswell police say a 13-year-old boy is in custody for stabbing his stepfather because he didn't want to go to school. They say the incident yesterday morning was inside a mobile home on West Linda Vista. Police say the boy used a pocket knife to stab his stepdad three times in his hand, arm and chest. KRQE-TV reports that the man was treated at the scene and isn't seriously injured.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The state Board of Finance has agreed to form a committee to decide how to cover $1 million that court officials say is needed to furnish a new district courthouse in Santa Fe. Gov. Susana Martinez vetoed nearly $1.4 million the Legislature approved for courthouse furnishings and she made it clear at the board meeting that she views it as the county's responsible - not the state's obligation - to pay.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - PNM has proposed adding more renewable energy to its portfolio over the next two years, but the changes could lead to higher electric bills for customers. The utility submitted its annual renewable energy plan to regulators yesterday. It calls for adding geothermal and solar capacity.
