LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A former Las Cruces basketball coach who is accused of having child pornography on his computer has been charged with 15 counts of sexual exploitation of children. Thirty-two-year-old Eric Khan was arrested earlier this month after detectives searched his home. Police said they discovered hundreds of computer files containing child pornography in Khan's home.
CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - The Carlsbad City Council tomorrow considers approving a contract for the city manager at an annual salary and benefits of $212,000. The city's contract with Jon Tully will be effective June 1. Tully retired after serving 13 years as city administrator but was called out of retirement in October when Harry Burgess resigned to take that position in Los Alamos.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico seventh-graders who stumbled upon what is believed to be a 900-year-old American Indian pot are set to be honored. Officials with BLM tomorrow will publicly thank students at Sandia Prep for properly notifying federal authorities after discovering the artifact during a field trip last month. BLM archeologists later removed the pot and estimated the age to be between 800 to 1,000 years old.
CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say a man shot by a Clovis police officer had just raped a woman at gunpoint. Prosecutors say Paul Villanueva raped and threatened to kill an ex-girlfriend. Chandler says Villanueva later pointed a pistol at an officer's head. Villanueva was listed as critical but stable condition
