Man gets 100 years in prison for sexual assault of child

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A 45-year-old man was sentenced in a jury trial on Thursday to 100 years in prison for two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child .

The victim, according to 47th District Attorney Randall Sims, was a 13-year-old female who was a family friend. The incident happened in February 2011. According to Sims, the girl told a school counselor the next day;

A jury returned a verdict of guilty for Ty Tuckness, 45, on Wednesday, to two enhanced counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. Sims said the jury deliberated for about two and a half hours on the case.

Punishment was set by the jury, Sims said. Tuckness was sentenced to 50 years for each count in the Texas Department of Corrections.

The jury deliberated for about four hours on the punishment, Sims said. The sentences will run concurrently.
