AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Arbor Christian Academy is here to stay.
The school will be joining forces with Paramount Baptist Church, effective next school year, officials announced on Tuesday afternoon. Paramount Baptist Church will now host the school.
"The main benefit is that we have an opportunity to impact lives," said Dave Anderson, Executive Pastor of Paramount Baptist Church. "Parmount has always supported education and we're very excited about being able to take an entity like Arbor and strengthen it."
This, just three weeks after officials at Trinity Fellowship announced that, Arbor Christian Academy, would be closing at the end of the year.
School representatives then began meeting with Paramount Baptist Church leadership, looking for a new host church.
After discussions with church officials, the larger church membership became involved with a church-wide vote. The measure passed overwhelmingly, with 88 percent of the church approving to host Arbor Christian Academy.
More than 200 students are currently enrolled at the school, school officials said.
Arbor Christian Academy is a Christian-based school. Church elders from Trinity Fellowship made the decision to close the school after reviewing declining enrollment numbers.
Officials said an additional enrollment of 75 students is needed to meet its goal. If that number is not met, officials said they will have to revaulate the budget or look to the community for donations.
Arbor Christian Academy will pay a rental fee to the church for the use of its facilities.
