LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A former Las Cruces basketball coach who is accused of having child pornography on his computer will remain in federal custody until his trial. The Las Cruces Sun-News reports that 32-year-old Eric Khan was considered a flight risk and a danger to the community during a federal court hearing yesterday. Khan told authorities he became addicted to child porn 10 years ago while counseling juvenile sex offenders.
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Police are looking for a third man suspected of being involved in a home invasion in Tome that led to the shooting of a 10-year-old boy. State police say they're searching for 35-year-old Francisco Garcia, who's charged with kidnapping, aggravated battery and child abuse. Police have already arrested two men in the attempted May 23 burglary. The family told police they did not know any of the men involved.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A former employee with Goodwill's New Mexico office is facing federal charges of embezzling thousands of dollars. Federal prosecutors say Francis Louis Carrillo faces a six-count indictment for stealing federal funds designed for affordable housing and for vocational training for older residents. He's accused of pocketing more than $15,000 over a three-year period.
SANTE FE, N.M. (AP) - The Santa Fe Community Convention Center is getting a new solar power system. The city says the convention center is set to receive 386 panels that will cover more than 10 percent of the facility's electric use. The city of Santa Fe will purchase power at a fixed price for the next 20 years.
