QUAY COUNTY, NEW MEXICO -- Felony charges are being filed against three under-aged drinking adults and others who were involved in a Memorial Day boating accident that left one woman critically injured. New Mexico State Police say that alcohol was a factor. The accident occurred at the Ute Lake State Park over the Memorial Day weekend.
Shaina Pool, 21 of Clovis was tossed from the moving boat and was injured by the propeller. Pool was flown to Amarillo with critical injuries where she remains.
The investigation showed that alcohol was being served and consumed by occupants on the boat to many who were not of legal drinking age.
New Mexico State Police filed felony charges on the following people related to the incident.
Brittany Holt, 21 of Clovis, for 5 counts of the selling or giving alcoholic beverages to minors, a 4th degree felony and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors 4th degree felony.
Jonathon Maes, 21 of Clovis, for 5 counts of the selling or giving alcoholic beverages to minors, a 4th degree felony and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors 4th degree felony.
Logan Denton, 21 of Clovis, for 5 counts of the selling or giving alcoholic beverages to minors, a 4th degree felony and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors 4th degree felony.
Tre Orozco, 18 of Clovis, for 2 counts of contributing to delinquency of minors- 4th degree felony.
Kendra Gibbons, 18 of Clovis, for 2 counts of contributing to delinquency of minors- 4th degree felony.
Spencer Norris, 20 of Clovis, for 2 counts of contributing to delinquency of minors- 4th degree felony.
In addition to the above charged, two juveniles will be summoned into court for minor in possession of alcohol, allowing self to be served.
The investigation continues and more charges are possible.
