GRAY COUNTY, TEXAS -- Many across the Panhandle were awakened early Wednesday morning by a massive orange haze.

That orange haze, according to the Gray County Sheriff's Office, was a large fire on a natural gas pipeline.

No injuries were reported, officials said. Some property was reportedly damaged nearby.

People from as far away as 45 miles reportedly could see the orange haze from the fire.

Lt. Terry Cox said the explosion was first reported at about 1:05 a.m. The pipeline was three-tenths of a mile south of State Highway 152 between Gray County Roads 23 and 24.

State Highway 152 was closed between 1:30 and 3:30 a.m., authorities said.

The Gray County Sheriff's Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Wheeler County Sheriff's Department, TxDOT and the Hoover, Lefors, McLean, Mobeetie and Wheeler Volunteer Fire Departments all responded.
