HEMPHILL COUNTY, TEXAS --

One person was injured in a pipeline explosion about 11 miles east of Canadian Friday morning, according to the Hemphill County Sheriff's Office.

That person was taken to the Hemphill County Hospital in Canadian where they were treated and later released with minor burn injuries to the face and hands.

Authorities said they were first notified about the explosion at about 7:38 a.m. The blast was on Lake Marvin Road, officials said.

Preliminary investigation by the Hemphill County Sheriff's Office found that employees from Presser Construction was making a cold cut on a gas pipeline that has been shut in. Authorities said the cut was made in a place that had residual gas in it.

The blast, according to the Sheriff's Office, was ignited by a track hoe that was sitting at the location.

Three welding trucks and a track hoe were burned. All were a total loss, authorities said.

DCP Midstream managed the pipeline. The incident is under investigation.
