CLOVIS, N.M. -- A 54-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison for trafficking and possessing methamphetamines, Ninth Judicial District Attorney Matthew Chandler announced Thursday afternoon.

Gilbert Jaramillo, 42, pled guilty to the charges and was sentenced by Judge Stephen Quinn.

In May 2010, Region V Drug Task Force agents executed a search warrant on a residence after information was obtained that drugs were being trafficked. Authhorities said 21 grams of methamphetamine in various baggies was found.

Additionally, money and drug paraphernalia, including a scale, spoons and a glass pipe was found.

Jaramillo's bond was set at $20,000 cash. He was bonded out six days later.

On January 26, 2012, authorities said Jaramillo picked up a new charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance when a search warrant was conducted at another Clovis residence.

Authorities said when they entered the residence, Jaramillo ran into a back bedroom and locked the door. Officers were able to kick open the door and found three silver spoons with meth residue, a smoking pipe with marijuana residue and a digital pipe.

Jaramillo will serve four years in the Department of Corrections.
