BLOOMFIELD, N.M. (AP) - Winds are dying down and firefighting crews are starting to make progress on a wildfire that has burned four structures along the San Juan River in far northwestern New Mexico. State forestry officials say the blaze had charred about 100 acres by last night. San Juan County deputies helped residents evacuate the immediate area.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Thieves have hit a historic Santa Fe church twice, and its pastor says the shrine is in dire need of a security upgrade. KRQE-TV reports that the Santuario de Guadalupe was targeted last week after a thief pried open a donation box and swiped the money inside. Someone also busted through rod iron bars in the back of the church, broke a window and stole two wooden crosses.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A woman convicted of robbing an Albuquerque bank at gunpoint has been sentenced to six years in prison. The Albuquerque Journal reports 55-year-old Hazel Bernadette Gutierrez of Sandia Pueblo pleaded guilty last year to robbing a Bank of America in late 2009.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Staffers are being laid off at a New Mexico anti-terrorism training center known for preparing soldiers for Middle East deployments in an mock Afghan village. The Albuquerque Journal reports that the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology says all 70 members of its support staff have been let go in a complete restructure of its anti-terrorism and law enforcement training center in Playas.
