FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - An immigrant rights group is set to reveal details of racial-profiling complaints against San Juan County and the Farmington Police Department today. Somos Un Pueblo Unido and San Juan County residents will file the complaints amid allegations of civil rights abuses and that the agencies are misusing federal agents in immigration probes.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A spokesman for New Mexico Attorney General Gary King used state email accounts to send political updates about the prosecutor's 2010 re-election opponent. The Albuquerque Journal reports that at least two emails released by the Democrat appear to mix politics and state business.
FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - A driver accused of injuring a judge in Farmington while he was intoxicated has been booked on his seventh drunken driving arrest. The Farmington Daily Times reports 54-year-old Junior Yazzie was arrested after a June 30 car wreck that injured Aztec Magistrate Judge Carla Vescovi-Dial. Yazzie is suspected of being involved in two other hit-and-run accidents in Farmington that evening before he collided with the judge.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Shooting is set to begin later this month in southern New Mexico on an independent film titled, "The Odd Way Home." Among the movie's stars is Rumer Willis, daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. Shooting will take place in Las Cruces, Deming, Hillsboro and Silver City.
