Authorities in Albuquerque are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Jeff Oelcher's death. The 28-year-old Oelcher was driving an armored van on a stretch of highway between Grants and Socorro when he was ambushed and fatally shot in the head.

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (AP) - The University of New Mexico opens its new hospital in Rio Rancho today. The hospital opens this morning with clinical services and a full emergency and trauma room.

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) - Alamogordo police arrested a man from Germany who is accused of trying to sell stolen aircraft navigation equipment on the Internet. The Alamogordo Daily News reports that 46-year-old Ralf Hupfeld is charged with commercial burglary, larceny over $20,000, receiving or deposing of stolen property over $20,000 and criminal trespassing.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Sportsmen in New Mexico and elsewhere are throwing their support behind federal legislation that aims to improve access for hunters and anglers to millions of acres of public land.
