CANYON, TEXAS -- Eight firefighters along with two others were transported to the hospital for evaluation after a hazardous material fire south of Canyon Monday evening.
According to the Canyon Fire Department, firefighters arrived to the fire at about 7 p.m., Monday and discovered there was a hazardous material involved. The Amarillo Hazmat Team, Amarillo/Potter/Randall EOC and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality all responded to help ensure the hazardous materials stayed inside the fire scene.
Fire officials said the 10 people were transported to the hospital only as a precaution. There was no risk to the general public and the scene has now been neutralized.
All 10 people taken to the hospital are fine, officials said.
