SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say the remains of a newborn baby could have been in a vacant field near Santa Fe for up to two weeks.
A man walking his dog Thursday discovered the partially buried body in Eldorado.
The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Department says it hasn't determined the baby's gender or age. An autopsy is planned Friday.
The Santa Fe New Mexican (http://bit.ly/LCyqUw ) reports that authorities believe the child's mother lives in Eldorado. Nobody has been charged in the death.
Authorities have been interviewing residents near the field and are asking the public to call in with any information related to the case.
