AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in a weekend crash that killed a 25-year-old woman, police said.
On Saturday just before 5 a.m., police said a 2004 Buick Ranier had been traveling eastbound near the 4100 block of West 5th when it struck the south curb, over corrected and went across all lanes of traffic before rolling into a vacant lot.
The driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Crystal Ann Vargas was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. She later died, police said.
A 20-year-old passenger, Yajairah Duran, was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police said speed and alcohol are factors in this crash. Vargas was not wearing a seat belt but Duran was, police added.
This crash remains under investigation.
