Gov. Rick Perry's endorsements did little to help Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst win the Senate nomination, or Republican incumbents Supreme Court Justice David Medina and state Reps. Chuck Hopson, Sid Miller and Jim Landtroop, who all loss.
Just a year ago, Republican politicians were giddy at the thought of Perry running for president and Dewhurst moving on to the Senate. But now the state's top Republicans appear frozen in place.
A key question will be whether Perry or Dewhurst will see their influence weakened by their defeats going into the 2013 legislative session. Perry has relied on his endorsements to keep Republican lawmakers in line, but his support is no longer worth as much.iller and Jim Landtroop, who all loss.
