Amarillo starts voluntary water restrictions

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The City of Amarillo has officially moved into the water restrictions plan, also known as a Drought Contingency Plan, to help reduce the amount of water the city is using.

The restrictions kick in when five days of water usage is greater than 80 million gallons.

The Stage 1 restrictions are voluntary watering schedules of odd addresses water on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and even addresses to water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with no watering on Saturday.

Stage 2 restrictions, which is mandatory water restrictions, starts if water usage goes over 85 millions gallons.

The city used over 92 million gallons yesterday, after 5 days of usage over 80 million gallons.
