ROBERTS COUNTY, TEXAS -- A 51-year-old Beaver, Okla., man was killed on Thursday when the tractor trailer he was driving overturned in Roberts County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said Steven Lee Avey was driving a 2006 tractor trailer eastbound on FM 282 northeast of Pampa at about 5:30 p.m.

DPS said the truck was traveling at an unsafe speed when it drove to the south side of the road while entering a curve.

The truck, according to DPS, then left the roadway. It was carrying an oversized, top-heavy load and overturned when it left the road, authorities said.

Avey was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m. Police said he was wearing a seat belt.
