OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A heat alert that was issued a month ago in the Oklahoma City metro area has been lifted. An Emergency Medical Services Authority spokeswoman says today that the alert that was issued July 9th was lifted after the ambulance service responded to three heat-related calls yesterday.
NEW YORK (AP) - Chesapeake Energy Corporation says the federal government is investigating whether there were antitrust violations relating to its purchase of some oil and gas land in Michigan. The Oklahoma City-based company said in a regulatory filing yesterday that it was subpoenaed by the U.S. Department of Justice to hand over paperwork related to those purchases. Chesapeake says it has also received demands for documents and information from state government agencies.
LUTHER, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma County authorities have released the name of a woman found dead in a swimming pool in Luther. The sheriff's office says the body of 38-year-old Dennise Nicholson was found last night by her husband. Sheriff John Whetsel said the body has been sent to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office to determine a cause of death.
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) - A court date has been set next month for Oklahoma State defensive tackle Christian Littlehead on a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery. Littlehead's initial appearance in Cherokee County District Court was scheduled today for September 24th and a warrant for Littlehead's arrest was recalled.
