More couples may be finding themselves suffering from wedding bill blues, and empty pocketbooks. That's because the average cost a wedding is climbing.

What little girl doesn't dream of her wedding day? A grand celebration to add her own design flare and special touches that reflect the couples relationship. But that celebration comes with a hefty price tag.

Watching a couple say their "I do's" is a special moment, but according to Brides magazine, those "I do's" are costing $26,989 for an average wedding. That price tag climbs as the guest list grows.

"$27,000 is the cost of an average wedding for around 100 to 125 people. The problem is to get brides especially in smaller towns like Amarillo, and especially when you get into little Panhandle towns, the whole town is invited so you could have upwards of 600 people at a wedding. So you'll want to take it up for a bigger wedding," said Parie Villyard, Owner of Parie Designs.

The cost for a wedding has climbed over the years. But why? According to experts, we can thank the worldwide web, celebrity weddings, and reality TV shows like "Say Yes to the Dress". Giving couple's a fake fantasy of what they'd like for their wedding and trying to match that.

"So those are pumping images into us about what is in, and what weddings are about so I mean, its gotten huge, because of what's happening in the media and the web world," said Villyard.

But social media does have it's positives. In fact, wedding coordinators and planners are using Pinterest to get into the minds of their brides.

"What I say to a bride now is just start Pinteresting I'll follow you and I can see what you're looking for, because they're grabbing images and looking at what they like".

Brides magazine also says 91% of couples set a budget, and 32% of those go over it. Adding the best advice is for couples to set their priorities when planning. Helping keep the green in their pockets, and the bill blues away.

Villyard adss, that some of the popular trends she's seeing right now are the use of photo booths, candy and dessert bars as well as fun themed weddings from circus to picnics.
