ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The mother and sisters of a New Mexico inmate are facing charges after authorities say the mother tried to smuggle drugs into the Springer Correctional Center. Corrections officials say the 43-year-old mom tried to use balloons to hide the tobacco and Suboxone (suh-BAHX'-ohn).
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department says the 17-year-old driver of an SUV faces charges after a crash that killed one person and injured two others, including the driver. Investigators say the SUV lost control, struck a power pole and rolled over Saturday night. Deputies believe alcohol was a factor.
FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - The San Juan Watershed Group is trying to pinpoint the sources of E. coli contamination in the San Juan and Animas rivers. The group plans to gather samples starting this week. It won a $500,000 grant for the project as part of a lawsuit settlement.
