(AP) - Like her husband, Janna Ryan, the wife of Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan, is a Washington veteran after years working as a legislative staffer, attorney and lobbyist. Now a stay-at-home mom, she comes from a family rooted deep in Oklahoma politics - of the Democratic sort. Janna Ryan has been thrust into the spotlight since her husband was introduced as Mitt Romney's running mate on Saturday.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma health officials are reporting the first West Nile Virus-related death of the year and have issued a public health warning. The state health department said the death occurred in Oklahoma County and said it was the first death due to the virus in the state since 2009.
PAULS VALLEY, Okla. (AP) - Bond has been denied for an Elmore City man accused of killing the ex-boyfriend of his girlfriend and then dismembering the corpse. A Garvin County judge denied bond yesterday for Justin Hammer, who is charged with first-degree murder in the August 7th death of Brandon Duran. Hammer has pleaded not guilty.
PANAMA, Okla. (AP) - Authorities in eastern Oklahoma are investigating the killing of a police dog named Creed. Sergeant Andrew Bevil says Creed was found dead at Bevil's home in Panama, Oklahoma on August 5th. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. tomorrow at Panama First Baptist Church. Bevil says the honor guard from the Fort Smith, Arkansas police department plans to participate.
