KRQE-TV reports police have received thousands of tips from people who are using the line to get people they don't like in trouble. Albuquerque Police Deputy Chief Paul Feist says all the cases are investigated.

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, N.M. (AP) - City commissioners in Truth or Consequences have approved a year-long moratorium on well drilling while experts study whether an increase in wells is causing the town's famed hot springs to dry up. Mayor John Mulcahy says last night's move is necessary to make sure a crucial resource is protected.

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - A rockslide that blocked an irrigation ditch has cut off water to hundreds of farmers in the Kirtland area. The water to more than 600 farmers in Kirtland, Fruitland and Waterflow stopped Saturday morning. The Farmington Daily-Times reports rocks from a cliff landed directly in the Farmers Mutual Ditch sometime Friday night.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Three Las Cruces teens will spend two years in juvenile detention for a purse-snatching that left an 81-year-old woman in a wheelchair. The Las Cruces Sun-News reports victim Mary Inez Garcia told the judge at yesterday's hearing that she hopes the 17-year-old boys get a high school diploma while incarcerated so they don't have to live a life of crime.
