Suspect in custody following stabbing death in Clovis

CLOVIS, N.M. -- A suspect was taken into custody after police said a 35-year-old man died from stab wounds early Friday morning.

Police said 35-year-old Kevin Reardon of Valencia, Calif., died after being stabbed.

Reardon was transported to Lubbock following a reported stabbing in the 300 block of Dawn in Clovis at about 10:35 p.m., police said.

A suspect from the scene was taken into custody and police said possible criminal charges are pending as the investigation continues.

The suspect, Chip Fox, 35, of San Luis Obispo, California, has been charged with one count of Murder in the stabbing death of Reardon.

An investigation is under way by the Clovis Police Department Special Operations Detective Unit, with the detectives collecting evidence and witness interviews.

Officials said that no other information is available due the on-going investigation. An update is expected Monday.

Fox is being held on bond at the Curry County Adult Detention Center in Clovis.
