DALLAS (AP) - More aerial spraying to target mosquitoes that can carry the West Nile virus has been completed in the Dallas area. Dallas County officials say the next round of pesticide spraying is scheduled for tonight. An outbreak of West Nile has left 10 people dead and more than 200 sick in the county.
HOUSTON (AP) - Authorities in Houston say an infant has died after being shot while in a car with her mother. The shooting happened early yesterday as two men on foot opened fire on a car. Police say an SUV then drove by and the occupants fire more bullets into the vehicle. Investigators are trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
DALLAS (AP) - Colorado authorities have arrested a man sought after a husband and wife were shot to death on the front porch of their Texas home. Arapahoe County Jail records showed Abey Bellette Girma was being held without bond on a fugitive warrant from Dallas. The bodies of Yayehyirad Lemma and Yenenesh Desta were discovered last week.
MCKINNEY, Texas (AP) - Opening arguments are set for today in the trial of a man accused in the death of a North Texas fitness instructor. Fifty-year-old Terrance Black is charged with capital murder in the death of 40-year-old Susan Loper of Frisco. Police say Loper was kidnapped from the Gleneagles Country Club in Plano and later found beaten to death.
