After receiving donated peanut butter for over a month, Snack Pak 4 Kids and Odyssey Hospice have met their goal of 1,000.

"We were hoping to collect 1,000 jars of peanut butter," said Brande Bigham, Odyssey Hospice Community Marketing Liaison. "We are going to surpass that goal!"

Snack Pak and Odyssey believe in all they will have 3,000 jars, well over the goal. The peanut butter's being raised to help local, less fortunate kids.

"Snack Pak is a local program that provides sacks of kid friendly food," said Bigham. "They discretely put  it in the back packs of children every Friday that may be living in food insecure homes."

Today marked the end of the food drive, as people from both organizations came together for a 'collection party', complete with hot dogs and drinks. They continued to accept peanut butter at the cook-out, located on the lawn of the Odyssey building.

"Those children are on free and reduced lunches and breakfast at the school," said Bigham. "So when they leave on Friday afternoon, there's really no guarantees of where their next meal will come from."
