SAN ANTONIO (AP) - University of Texas System regents have approved a plan for a new $350 million hospital in San Antonio. The 250-bed hospital will be funded by Vanguard Health Systems and specifically designed for children's medical care.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities have charged a man in the hoax that forced a Dallas-bound flight to return to Philadelphia yesterday. A criminal complaint says 26-year-old Kenneth Smith Junior called police and claimed a passenger was carrying an explosive substance. The unwitting victim in the case -- Christopher Shell -- has been arrested in Texas on outstanding warrants for two drug possession charges.
DETROIT (AP) - General Motors says it will hire hundreds of people to work at a new computer center in Austin. The facility is the first of several that GM plans to open across the country. The automaker is looking for software developers, project managers, database experts and business analysts.
DALLAS (AP) - A Dallas woman accused of killing her son is jailed on $1 million bond. Twenty-five year-old Chloe Menager is charged with capital murder. Police say she drowned the one-year-old boy in a bathtub at her apartment yesterday.
