The victims from the fatal wreck have been identified as 36-year-old Jeremy Mark Whisennand and 28-year-old Lakeeta Lavonne Chase. Police said both were originally from Oklahoma but they had been staying in Amarillo.
A motorcycle driver and his passenger were both killed on Monday afternoon when police said a pickup turned in front of their motorcycle.Police said the crash happened in the 5400 block of Amarillo Boulevard East just after 1:00 in the afternoon. A 1997 Chevrolet pickup pulling a flatbed trailer, according to police, failed to yield right of way and turned in front of the motorcycle.
Both the male driver and his female passenger struck the trailer, police said.
They were both transported to an Amarillo hospital where they later died as a result of the crash, police said.
Their identities have not yet been released, pending notification of their next of kin. Police said both the driver and passenger were Oklahoma residents. Neither were wearing helmets, police said.
The driver of the pickup was not injured, police said.
An investigation is ongoing into this crash.
