A child narrowly escaped injuries after a pickup truck crashed into a house, police said.
AMARILLO, TEXAS --
The incident happened Saturday night when Amarillo Police officers were sent to a motor vehicle accident at 10:19 p.m. in the 4600 block of South Georgia. Police say a red Chevrolet pickup was traveling southbound on Georgia Street, left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The driver, 52-year old Stephen Ray Johnson, was ejected from the pickup and pronounced dead on scene.

The pickup continued to travel southwest, and struck the front of the residence at 4608 S. Georgia. This caused the front wall of a bedroom, where a child was sleeping, to be pushed in. The child was not injured.

The traffic investigation squad is investigating the accident.
