An Amarillo man was struck by a mobile home that was being pulled by a heavy duty truck while it traveled through a road construction zone.

The truck was traveling west on US 62, about two miles west of Idalou, when the home hit German Murguia, of Amarillo, who was a construction worker.

According to Susan Carpenter, of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Murguia was hit by the edge of the home as it was passing by.

The section of highway was under construction and the area was zoned for construction speeds.

The accident occurred at 1:11 p.m.

Murguia was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:27 p.m.
