AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the motorcycle crash that put two men in the hospital early Saturday morning, police said.

According to police, a 2012 Ford F-350 struck and dragged a motorcyclist at about 2:41 Saturday morning in the 7000 block of South Soncy Road.

The truck was driven by 25-year-old Joshua W. Campbell of Amarillo, police said.

A 1997 AVES custom motorcycle, driven by 33-year-old Julius AJ Gray of Amarillo, was traveling southbound in the right lane when he was struck from behind, police said.

Gray was transported to the hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries. His condition has since improved, police said.

He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

Police said Campbell was later admitted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into this crash is ongoing but police said speed and alcohol were contributing factors in this crash.
