DALLAS (AP) - The State Fair of Texas has opened for its 126th year.

Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples was on hand Friday in Dallas to help mark the 40th anniversary of the Texas Department of Agriculture's Food and Fiber Pavilion.

Plano-based Frito-Lay North America Inc. is marking the 80th year of the iconic corn chip with what it's billing as the world's largest Frito pie on Monday in the Big Tex Circle.

On the Cotton Bowl gridiron, Grambling State will face Prairie View A&M on Oct. 6 and Oklahoma takes on Texas on Oct. 13.

The fair runs through Oct. 21.
