DALHART, TEXAS -- Dalhart Independent School District has been chosen as the recipient of a $10,000 in grant from America's Farmers Grow Rural Education.

The organization gives farmers the opportunity to nominate their public school district to apply for a $10,000 or $25,000 merit-based grant.

The grants are available through the Monsanto Fund and will be used to enhance math and science education .

Dalhart ISD was chosen for the grant after a three tier review process. It is one of nine schools in Texas chosen to receive the grant.

Overall, more than $2.3 million will be invested into rural schools this year, the group said.
