AMARILLO, TEXAS -- It’s Friday and time for fun and relaxation, and local businesses and organizations have provided Amarillo with a weekend to go out and about.
TGIF is what most of us said today and with a cold front coming in, getting cozy with a blanket and a book is exactly what the friends of Amarillo have in mind.
“This is our annual open book festival and it's a celebration of books and reading that raises awareness for the Amarillo Public Library and raises funds for the ‘Friends’ of the Amarillo Public Library,” said Stacy Clopton Yates Public Relations Coordinator, Amarillo Public Library
More than 40 authors are attending the festival and a variety of books ranging from mystery to romance will attract readers of all ages and interest
“People can come in and meet the authors purchase a book, get the book signed learn more about the authors and their work, and we’ll have about a dozen different vendors here,” said Yates. “There are activities and story times for children.”
The book festival has seen a lot of changes from last year and the friends invite everyone out to the civic center Saturday morning to enjoy the additions and the magic of books with them at the Civic Center.
For those who want to go out and enjoy the cold weather here are some ideas that may interest you.
