AMARILLO, TEXAS -- More than $200,000 was raised from the event that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani spoke at in October.

Center Center announced the total amount raised at a press conference Thursday afternoon. Center City received a check for $175,000 and Amarillo College received a check for $33,000 to go to the college's Honors Program and the Hereford Campus.

"We are honored to be a part of this special event which will help us in our continuing efforts to revitalize downtown," Center City Executive Director Beth Duke said.

The event, titled "An Evening of Leadership and Legacy with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani" capped off the 100th anniversary celebration of Amarillo's Underwood Law Firm, the oldest continuously operating law firm in Amarillo.

More than 2,300 people attended the speaking event on Oct. 16. More than 1,000 people attended a dinner dedicated to the same cause.

Center City and Amarillo College representatives thanked all the businesses and individuals that helped make the event a success through sponsorships and participation.
