AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Holiday season is not just a time of joyous celebration. Unfortunately, it is also the time for holiday crimes. Police reports say a man was robbed late last night at a local movie theatre.

Police say a 20-year-old man was robbed at approximately 11:07 p.m. last night at the Hollywood 16 movie theater. The victim says two males approached him and took his money. When they left he tried to call the police and they drove over to his vehicle and punched out the passenger side window of his vehicle.

Cases like this make you wonder how safe it is around the city this time of the year. Amarillo Police Department Corporal, Jerry Neufeld provided with some common-sense tips that you should keep in mind this holiday season:

1. Be alert always and pay attention to your surroundings

2. Park close to buildings

3. Have your keys in your hand so you can get into places quickly

4. While shopping, don't overload on bags where you cannot protect yourself
