Severe dust storm cause of fatal I-27 wreck

LUBBOCK, TEXAS -- One dead and 17 injured after a multiple car accident on Interstate 27 north of Lubbock near New Deal, according to reports from KJTC-TV.

A severe dust storm was the cause of the accident and forced authorities to close sections of Interstate 27 between Amarillo and Lubbock.

Wind gust at 45 mph have reduced visibility to zero in some parts and the Texas Department of Transportation has discouraged travel on Interstate 27 corridor between Amarillo and Lubbock.
